Everything people ask us about MoneyWr.
The answers are short and factual. If yours is not here, the Security and data page and the feature pages go further.
The app
What is MoneyWr?
A personal budgeting app for Android. You describe your income, your fixed costs and your projects; MoneyWr calculates your end-of-month balance for every month of the year and warns you when a month looks tight.
How do you pronounce “MoneyWr”?
“Money where”: where does the money go. The “Wr” is read as “where”.
When will the app be available?
MoneyWr is under development and testing. The Android version will be published on Google Play after a closed testing phase; the date and the pricing model will be announced on this site.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. The app is built to run on iOS, but the Android version comes out first.
Is there a web version?
No. MoneyWr was designed for the phone, where spending decisions are made. No web version is planned.
Does the app have a light mode?
Yes. MoneyWr follows your phone’s theme, dark or light, with the same purple palette.
The budget
Do I need to connect my bank to use MoneyWr?
No. The bank connection is optional. Without it, you enter your unplanned expenses by hand, in three fields.
Does MoneyWr handle joint accounts or several accounts?
Yes. You can track several accounts and cards (joint account, deferred-debit card, savings accounts, cash), each with its own balance, reconciled with one gesture and linked to bank imports. For two people, the Shared budget splits shared costs (half and half, in proportion to income or custom), shows who owes the other how much, and each of you keeps your own budget.
What does “critical month” mean?
A month whose forecast closing balance falls below zero, given your fixed costs, your projects and your unplanned items. MoneyWr flags it on the home screen and in the list of months.
Does MoneyWr give investment advice?
Never. The AI analysis comments on your budget and your spending habits; it gives no personalised investment advice, and MoneyWr is not a financial adviser.
Your data
Where is my data stored?
On a server hosted in the European Union, in a database whose sensitive fields are encrypted. Exchanges between the app and the server go over HTTPS.
Can I get my data back?
Yes. The settings offer the export of a full year in JSON format, and the import of that same file.
Are my bank credentials stored?
No. They are entered in the flow of the authorised aggregation provider, never in MoneyWr, which only receives read access to the transactions.
Do I need to install ntfy to receive notifications?
Only on a phone without Google services. With Google Play services, notifications go through Firebase Cloud Messaging and contain only the title and text of the alert. Without them, MoneyWr uses UnifiedPush: ntfy, free and open source, hands them to the app with no Google account.
Know where the money goes, before it’s gone.
MoneyWr is in testing. The Android version arrives on Google Play after the closed testing period. Until then, find out what the app does, and what it will never do with your data.
